Directory of Spiritual Directors

The following spiritual directors have completed a two-year certification program through CFDM Arizona.


Delpha Wright, MSW, CSD:

Delpha’s lifelong spiritual search has included participation in both Sufi and Buddhist traditions, in addition to her worship in the Christian church. A former psychotherapist, she specialized in substance abuse and related issues.

Linda M. Williams, PhD, CSD:

Linda earned her PhD with a focus on ethics and social justice. Her specialties include life transitions, second half of life spirituality, contemplative living and presence.

Joyce Vidal-Thornburg, MA, CT, CSD:

Joyce is the Executive Director for CFDM Arizona and a professional grief counselor currently working with Hospice of the Valley. She has a private practice as a grief counselor, a spiritual director and supervisor.

Ria Tokkie, CSD:

Ria focuses on inner healing and contemplative life. Ria is also a certified hospice volunteer who is very passionate about creating a sacred space for people with life limiting illness and their grieving families.

Ruth Schmid, RN, CSD:

Ruth welcomes you to a compassionate, transformational journey. Her nursing and Chaplain careers focus on people from all walks of life, especially when they are facing illness, death and grief.

Gene Meiergerd, RN, MS, CSD:

After a career as a registered nurse, massage therapist, and certified in Degriefing Modality, Gene now companions anyone on their spiritual journey with special interest in helping veterans.

Ann Hott, CSD:

Walking with others is a privilege, a faith practice and joy for Ann. Her journey includes centering prayer, scripture, Ignatian, Benedictine and 12-step spirituality.

Jean Hausmann, CSD:

A retired teacher, Jean is a graduate of the Living School at the Center for Action and Contemplation and of CFDM. Jean’s training is in 12 Step spirituality, the Christian contemplative wisdom tradition, and the 4th way.

Mary Stone, MA, CSD:

Mary’s ground is Christian contemplation, influenced by Buddhist teaching and 12-step spirituality. She welcomes questions, doubt, and creative expression as doorways to the sacred, and uses poetry to help those she companions to explore the sayable and unsayable in our holy human experience.

Pamela Bell, CSD:

Pamela is a skilled listener and is ready to help you to discern what your spiritual path can be.

Sandra Sutton Andrews, PhD, CSD:

Labyrinth facilitator and founder of a gallery that includes artists from all walks of life, Sandy welcomes those of any tradition/spiritual path, including spiritual-but-not-religious.

Ron Friesen, CSD:

It is my desire to journey to explore the God within each of us, regardless of faith tradition. This belief has drawn me to spiritual companioning with those who are exploring where the Divine may be working in their lives.

Sally Niles, CSD:

I am a child of God. I believe in and follow Jesus’ teachings and share his way of love with others in our world. It brings peace and restoration. I am called by God to walk alongside those who need healing of hurts and long for rest, relaxation, and peace in their daily lives.
